Gooseneck barnacles, Tla-o-qui-aht First Nation (by Uu-a-thluk, Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council Fisheries)
Overview
FNFC established the Economic Coordinating Committee (ECC) as a province-wide advisory body to facilitate First Nations collaboration on economic values, interests, concerns, and opportunities. The ECC supports economic development for First Nations in BC through the sustainable use of fish and aquatic resources within their territories, to build self-sufficient businesses and healthy First Nations economies.
The ECC aims to:
- facilitate collaboration among First Nations on current and future activities, programs, policies, and opportunities related to economic fisheries and aquatic resources
- support First Nations in building relationships that foster strong economies
- convene and build First Nations capacity to achieve economic success
- support opportunities for long-term, self-sufficient First Nations fisheries and aquatic resource businesses
